Full guide
What to check before you call
Safe observations first. Stop if anything involves smoke, gas, water near electricity, or a panel you would need to remove.
06 sections
The simplest maintenance for ASKO appliances is cleaning what the manual tells owners to clean: dishwasher filters, dryer lint filters, door seals, and the washer drain filter. Do these before a problem shows up, follow your own manual for intervals, and leave anything that needs a panel off to a technician.
Keeping up with appliance maintenance is easy to put off, and a symptom alone cannot tell you which part has worn out. Begin with safe observations you can repeat, ones that will help later if you arrange an ASKO service visit.
Upkeep that belongs to the owner and work that needs testing or dismantling are separate matters. Do not get around a door lock, a safety switch, or a warning on the display to keep an appliance in use. Jotting things down today lets a later diagnosis go more quickly and more accurately.
Start with the simple conditions
Take the appliances one by one, and let each manual show you the filters, seals, trays, and cleaning programs meant for owners. Examine things with the appliance where it normally stands, and do not force panels, fittings, or controls. If a minor adjustment changes the outcome, run a single regular cycle before you reach a conclusion.
Maintenance pays off most when it comes before any complaint, so enter the repeating jobs on a calendar instead of waiting for an error to appear. Take note of any pattern as well: every time, only with a certain load or setting, or only after a long run. That is more telling than restarting the appliance over and over.
| Task | Typical timing | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Dishwasher filter cleaning | Once a month | Helps water drain properly |
| Door seal wiping | Once a month | Keeps the seal in good condition |
| Dryer lint screen cleaning | Once a month | Keeps air moving freely |
How do you maintain an ASKO dishwasher?
The ASKO cleaning guide says to clean the dishwasher interior at least once a year, and more often with heavy use. The method is to empty the machine, place a dishwasher-safe container with two cups of vinegar on the bottom rack or fill the soap compartment with citric acid crystals, and run a Normal Wash cycle. Filters also need cleaning at least once a year, and heavy use may need more, so the monthly interval in the table above is a conservative habit rather than a rule; check your manual.
For the door edge, wipe with a damp cloth and, if needed, spray household cleaner on the cloth, not on the door. For the control panel, turn the dishwasher off and wipe with a damp cloth without household cleaners.
Safe checks that protect the appliance
The use-and-care manual lists the controls, filter locations, and care intervals for your model. Clean only the pieces it assigns to owners, use the products it names, and set every removable part back exactly where it belongs.
Prior to the next cycle, clear out obstructions, lighten any oversized load, and confirm that nothing is restricting air, the water supply, or the door. Skip repeated resets; they can disguise a fault that comes and goes and leave water, heat, or pressure in the wrong place.
- Write down a displayed message or error code before dismissing it.
- Check the hoses, vents, seals, and plugs you can see, but leave electrical connections where they are.
- Carry out a single controlled test instead of repeated rapid ones.
Safe to try
- Follow the cleaning steps in the manual
- Use only a descaler the manual allows
- Keep vents and seals clean
Leave to a technician
- Greasing moving parts inside
- Taking off appliance panels
- Putting harsh chemicals on seals
Know when the symptom needs diagnosis
Should the basic checks make no difference to the symptom, you have reached the edge of owner care. A technician with proper instruments is needed for anything inside: wiring, heater circuits, pumps, motors, gas fittings, the sealed refrigerant circuit, and control boards.
Arrange service soon if performance keeps declining, a breaker trips, a leak appears near electrical parts, you notice a scorched smell, a new grinding noise starts, or a cycle cannot be completed. If a safety warning shows, do not keep running the appliance.
How do you care for an ASKO washer and dryer?
On the laundry side, the guide says to empty the dryer lint filter after every load and rinse it monthly in the sink, and to clean the condenser on condenser models about every three to six months. For the washer it describes cleaning the drain filter, which collects threads, coins, pins and buttons, and cleaning the detergent compartment with a soft brush and warm water because it is not dishwasher safe.
Certain ASKO washers have a solid door seal that gathers no odor or debris and does not need cleaning. Where a seal is fitted, an opening along its top can trap debris. In hard water, the guide describes running about an ounce of citric acid in the drum on a hot cycle. Confirm which of these applies to your model.
Why a calendar helps
The guide’s warranty note excludes consumables such as filters, so keeping them clean is an owner task. Putting these jobs on a recurring schedule means a clogged filter is found by routine, not by a failed cycle.
What to tell the technician
Tell the technician your model number, the exact symptom, when it began, which settings were chosen, and how the safe checks went. A picture of any code, or a simple description of a sound, can add to the picture; never pull off a cover to get either.
Looking closely is not a repair, but it is the best way to begin. Take care of the simple conditions, keep any helpful error details, and leave electrical, gas, sealed-system, and internal mechanical work with a qualified ASKO technician.
Quick questions
How often should I clean an ASKO dishwasher?
Per the cleaning guide, both the interior and the filters should be cleaned at least yearly, with heavier use calling for more. Your own manual gives the exact steps.
Can I use any cleaner in the dishwasher?
No. The guide says never to use anti-freeze, drain cleaners, CLR or other chemical cleaners in the dishwasher; a vinegar or citric acid cycle is what it describes.
What should I clean on a dryer?
The lint filter after every load, a monthly rinse, and on condenser models the condenser every few months, following the manual for your model.

Before a replacement part is ordered, record the complete model number; the right part number can differ between board and sensor revisions.
Cutting power once can clear a temporary fault. Seeing the same code return again and again generally means a physical cause is still present.
Between visits, keep filters and vents free of buildup, because blocked airflow can look like an electrical or sensor problem.
Spotting water, a burning smell, or sparking means the appliance should be switched off and left for a professional to inspect.
